Spring Break, Austin Day 1

Jose has not had an out-of-town vacation in quite some time.  He had three days off during our Spring Break so we took a three day trip to Austin.  We really had a nice time, good family fun.  No agenda - just enjoying the city and the beautiful weather.

We decided to enjoy the water activities and had planned on
paddle boating.  However, as we walked through the hotel to
get to the river, Joey spotted the glass elevators.  What an
adventure!

Enjoying the ride!

We walked along the river to the dog park.

This dog was so friendly - he would drop the ball in front of Joey
and then back up a few steps at a time as if saying, "Come on,
give it to me, come on!"  We laughed and laughed.  Joey would
throw it in the water, and the dog would retrieve it.

Oops!  Joey had a fall in the mud.  (Notice in the
above photo - that small dip in the ground.  Yep,
that was the culprit.)

Joey dancing to the music in the hotel bathroom
as I rinsed his clothes and washed him off.  We stopped
at the nearest clothing store, a vintage/costume shop.  Jose
came out with a Kermit the frog shirt for Joey.

We visited the largest urban bat colony in the world.
I should have taken a photo, but they live under a bridge.
It was a nice park area where Joey played tag with other
boys.  This is Jose and Joey watching the bats ascend high
in the sky.

Here's a photo of just a few of the thousands of bats trailing
out into the sky.
