Valentine's Day 2012!

Joey's gift for Maria, our neighbor.  We found some cute
Valentines to make - superheroes out of tootsie roll pops
and rings out of Hershey's kisses.  We also made these for
his teachers at school.

Joey's hair when he woke up on Valentine's day.
Yes, it was a rough night, but this is similar to what
we face daily!

from my mother)

Just a quick craft from school - Wow!  My Joey has some skills!!

Gifts - they both get so excited!

Joey got his favorite candy - gummies and dark Dove chocolate!

He also received a Ninjago book, a Ninjago shirt,
and a Sonic shirt!

Joey started his Valentine's Day at 3:30 a.m.  Knowing Joey well, I thought he was simply excited about the Valentine's day party.  However, later realized that he had a fever - after he kept complaining of "hurting spots" - a stomach ache and a sore throat.  Staying up until 6:00 justified us both staying home.

He had his 5 year check up in the afternoon - a little late in the year, but all went well.  The doctor was very open to starting OT and asked if we would like to try some PT, also.  Joey got 3 shots and a TB test.  It was painful for all.  After it was over and we were checking out, Joey told the nurse who created the pain, "Thank you for the shots!"  (Really?)

By the way, Joey is in the 97th percentile for height!  He is currently 60 pounds and 46 1/2 inches at 5 years, 4 months.

Miscellaneous

This is Joey's friend at the Chinese restaurant we visit.  Although
he only speaks Mandarin, he and Joey have a fun relationship.  Lots of
gestures and smiles.  Joey tells him, "Ni Hao!" each time we visit.

OK, this is for me.  I keep seeing this sign and can't help but think,
"Only in Texas!"  Yes, this is a current election sign.

One of the crafts from Joey's class during dinosaur
week.  He pointed out to me that he had poked holes with
a toothpick for the dinosaur's eye.  He asked me if I knew why
he had done that.  I responded, "No."  He explained that when
looking at dinosaur bones, the eyes usually have holes.  Very good!

For some reason, on the stairs at home, Joey wants to be first, whether going up or down.  At times, this becomes an issue because he is taking his time, and I have my hands full.  The other day he said, "Mommy, you can go first."  I was surprised and asked why.  He said, "Because I'm a gentleman."

Superbowl and a little bit of Rodeo!

We visited our friends in Austin for the Superbowl.  Joey
also had  a great time with Aiden.  He's showing him his new
Batman Lego in this photo.

Gabe, Cisco, and Heather - 3 months pregnant!  These were
the cooks for the day - Yum!

Joey took this photo of me and my Jose.

Joey ready for Rodeo Day in his class.  Although he
has grown out of all of his jeans, one of the teachers
in his room donated some boots.  You should have
seen Joey's interpretive dance in these boots!

After school. . . notice the extra shirt gone, the boots off,
and I placed his hat on for the photo.  These were the horses
his class created for horse races.  Joey stated he won one of the
races, but he felt bad for beating Austin - his special girlfriend.

The new fashion for Joey - a variety of stickers on his clothing!

A Construction Birthday Party!

One of Joey's classmates had a cute birthday party
with a construction theme.

Joey with Ryan, Lukas, and Declan pounding golf tees into foam.

Wow!  They rented some equipment to visit the
 house for the party.

All the kids really enjoyed it!

The entire group!

Loved the mother's idea of how to serve the cake!

Joey and his special friend, Austin.  Her mother informed
me at the party that Austin had announced that she
would be marrying Joey one day.

Joey joined in a Karate (AKA "Chopsticks") class at the Little
Gym with his friend Vonn.  He will soon be joining the class.

Dad with his girls - Oreo and Dot (when we were dog-sitting).

Here's a couple of video clips the instructor took
at the Little Gym of our Joey.

Joey's Humor!

Joey always surprises me and makes me laugh.  Kathy was asking Joey about school, and Joey replied  that his teachers were funny.  Kathy asked how they were funny.  Joey replied, "Well, I told my teacher, 'If I don't get a smiley face in my folder, I'm toast!' and she said, 'You look more like a bagel to me.'" He explained, "And, they are both a kind of bread!"

Now, I found the toast comment more humorous.  I asked the teacher about it.  She replied, "He says funny things all the time.  He's like a little man."

Joey got a haircut yesterday - Whew!  The anxiety of a haircut for him (and, then, of course, the anxiety for me as his mother).  Luckily, we have found a lady who understands and accommodates to his ways.  I'm hoping we can work through some of this.  Here's a photo!
