Early December 2011

We started December with a birthday party - Tyler's 7th birthday party.   The parties are always so much fun.  The parents laughed that only in Texas could we have an outside December birthday party equipt with not only football equipment, pinata, dodge ball, but also. . . . water balloons.  It was a little rainy so some of the activities were in the garage.

Joey was one of the youngest and was so emotional that day - this growth spurt has challenged both of us.  Joey cried when he didn't win musical chairs, he laughed with dodge ball, he cried when he got hit by a ball, he squealed with excitement with the water balloons.  The fourth time crying, I was exhausted and just held him.  Joey had hit his head on another boy's head.  He asked me if he was bleeding and needed to go to the doctor.  I assured him that he was just fine.  A few minutes later I decided to see the injury - oops!  This time the crying was justified - see photo below with the large purple lump on his forehead which only got worse as the day continued.

We always get a "real" tree for Christmas.  And, it just seems that the day we decide to go is the coldest day of the season.  Jose is always so intent on getting the best tree - this is quite a process.  Photos below are a glimpse of our adventure.

Daniel coaches and had some football equipment for the boys to enjoy.

Joey loved it!

The boys!

Check out the purple lump that only got worse as the day continued.

Joey was so excited to get in Papa's attic.

The proud Joey at his destination (the attic).

The annual process of choosing the right tree.

Abuela Nina was there - she has a truck!

Joey loves his nativity sets.  Last year when he received them, he had no interest.  Now, he is so excited!

These are some of Joey's photos

I love to see his 5 year old hands in these photos.

This is a video from the birthday party.  Boys having fun doing the "freeze dance."
