Joey always asks great questions

I am really enjoying Joey.  I have said since the beginning, "It keeps getting better."  And, somehow, it does - it hasn't stopped getting better.  Joey is such a love.  He is still excitable and imaginative, but now he is simply more balanced.  And, he always makes me laugh.

Joey always asks great questions.  I have strived to be the mother that answers every question.  I want to be the mother that explains things well enough for him to get the concept if he is ready to understand it.  I tend to err on the side of a little too much information because I believe we underestimate our children's understanding and intelligence.

Tonite, when I was getting ready for bed, he carried a black urn into the bathroom.  He asked me what it was.  I rushed over and asked him to put it down - that it was glass.  I explained that it was D.O.G., our dog that had died a few years ago.  Joey said, "We buried him?"  So, I had to explain the whole incinerating process and ashes, etc.  He asked, "All of D.O.G. is in there?"  I answered, "Yes."  He looked at me - you could see him trying to figure it out.  Joey questioned, "Even his eyeballs?"  I just burst out laughing.  "Yes, even his eyeballs, Joey!"  He came over and hugged me.  I love this kid!

On Halloween, Joey asked me if mummies were real.  I explained that, yes, they were, but they were dead people that in a certain culture and time were wrapped in cloths.  However, mummies do not come back to life.  Just like zombies are supposed to be people that are dead and come back to life.  People cannot die and come back to life.  Then, Joey asked, "What about Jesus?"  He thinks of everything!
