Joey is such a joy! He has such a personality and such a sweet side. He is really enjoying his pre-school class - I know because when I go to pick him up, he doesn't want to leave. He's also enjoying his Busy Bodies class two nights a week. He feels so grown up since I drop him off there and leave. When I go to pick him up, he wants to share with me what he's done and takes me to the gym to demonstrate. It's so interesting how he takes ownership of his experiences and believes himself to be the expert. My parents have "grandparents night" on Wednesdays when they pick him up at school, and this past week Joey wanted to show them a different way to leave the building - he is so excited to be the one in charge, the expert, the guide. I love this kid!
Joey loves to rhyme, and because of it, he says some words that are not appropriate. I try not to pay any attention to the inappropriate words so that he will not repeat those "rhyming words." But, the other day, the shock - I couldn't help but laugh. Jose, Joey, and I were at the pool. Joey wanted to play tag in the water. He said, "Let's play tag. Mommy, you are a bag." "A bag?" I said. I told Jose that I didn't really like being "a bag." Then Joey clarified, "Mommy, you are a bag, and Daddy and I are fags." I paused, and couldn't help but laugh. He then went underwater and when he came up, he announced once again, "Mommy, I am a fag!" I guess my laughter provoked the last announcement. Luckily, these words have not entered any more coversations.
Yesterday, I had Joey helping out in the kitchen. We have 2 trash cans - one for recycling and one for trash. I demonstrated how to put a new bag in - when he was able to complete the other one, he just giggled and danced. This child LOVES to learn. I love being around him. The simple pleasures. . . .
Joey's preschool is having an "All About Me" lesson for about 2 weeks. They are reviewing body parts, family, home addresses/phone numbers, etc. One activity includes each student bringing home a box to take back to the class filled with items about them (favorite food, pictures, what they like). The students, then, stand up in front of the class and share the items and information with the class. We have the box to fill for next week. I am wondering what will end up in the box. Motherhood is so much fun!
